Management Team
Before the inception of METIQ in 2014, our management team has been working together for different companies since the year 2000 and has also forged a close personal friendship. Together with our team we now serve our employees and customers at METIQ and additionally are part of the management team of Frequentis Solutions & Services, a Slovak subsidiary of the Austrian Frequentis group.
Pavol Kopečný
Managing Partner: Strategy & Business Development
Pavol was educated at Bentley University, in Boston, USA. Thus, he earned his MBA degree at one of the leading IT related MBAs programs in the U.S. and in the world. At Bentley, he worked as softwared developer at Academic Technology Center. He continued his carreer as E-Commerce Development Manager with Teradyne in Boston, Massachusetts – a high-tech and fortune 1,000 manufacturing company. In 2002, he returned to Slovakia and worked as strategy consultant with many local and international corporations in various fields and industries. Pavol enjoys freeride skiing and many other sports including beach volleyball, hockey, and soccer. He also enjoys reading about Physics especially theory of relativity, antimatter and quantum physics.
Robert Pollai
Managing Partner: Consulting & Technology
Robert has more than 20 years of experience working in the ICT industry in executive management, consulting and software development. Clients included Atos, Frequentis, Siemens and Telekom Austria with focus on the fields of defense, public safety, telecommunications and energy utility. Robert has also worked on projects all over the world, including long-term stays in Canada, Sweden and Thailand. When off from work, Robert loves to take photos and ride his mountain bike.
METIQ name
The name is a combination of three important words: METIS + ETIQ + IQ: smart, ethical and intelligent.
Metis
Metis refers to wisdom, skills, or craft. Metis in mythology had become the mother of wisdom and deep thought. Metis name originally connoted “magical cunning” and was as easily equated with the trickster powers of Prometheus as with the “royal metis” of Zeus. The Stoic commentators allegorised Metis as the embodiment of “prudence”, “wisdom” or “wise counsel”, in which form she was inherited by the Renaissance.
It had been prophesied that Metis would bear extremely powerful children which reflects our goal of creating solid and powerful solutions.
Further, in 1998 book Seeing Like a State, the author James C. Scott used “metis” to describe the knowhow, experience and wisdom that people acquire in building expertise, as a key contributor to success in society that is not accounted for by the high modernist approach to central administration.
